About Sara Ford
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree in history and communications arts from the University of Houston, Sara entered the broadcast industry, accepting a position as an advertising copywriter at KXYZ/ABC Radio in Houston. Within a short time, she reached her goal, becoming a broadcast journalist.
For the next several years, Sara held positions at ABC News in New York and NBC News – KNBR/KNAI Radio - in San Francisco. In addition, she worked as a reporter, producer, news writer and anchor at several radio and TV stations in California and Texas, including KUHT-TV a PBS affiliate, where she produced and hosted a documentary on Houston’s economy. Over the course of her career, Sara won several awards for reporting, investigative reporting and business writing, including the first ever UPI award for a complete body of work by a reporter.
Sara lives in Santa Fe, where she writes primarily about the arts but also other subjects. Her stories have appeared in such publications as New Mexico Magazine, the Santa Fe New Mexican, The Taos News, Taos Magazine and Local Flavor. She has won awards from the New Mexico Press Association and the New Mexico Press Women for travel writing, feature writing and writing on the arts. She’s been involved with the Santa Fe Opera and the New Mexico Museum of Art, where she regularly contributed to Cypher Space, the museum’s blog.
